Match Preview: The New Saints vs Bala Town

The Lakesiders head out on the road this evening with a trip to Park Hall to face The New Saints on Matchday nine of the JD Cymru Premier season.

The Town came back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 in our last outing against Newtown, having gone behind by two in the opening 20 minutes, only for Aeron Edwards and Nathan Peate to score either side of the half to claw back a point.

Tonight's hosts faced defeat in their last match, as Penybont netted an 85th minute winner through former Lakesider Chris Venables to collect all three points in a 2-1 victory at the SDM Glass Stadium.

Danger Man

Adam Wilson: With the departure of Brad Young, the New Saints brought Adam Wilson back to Park Hall after the 24 year old recently moved to Bradford City in the EFL. Wilson has got off the mark already this season, scoring in both of his last two appearances against Barry Town and Penybont. During his time at Park Hall in the 2022/23 season, the Englishman would net seven goals in 19 league appearances in which would earn him a move to Bradford City. Having faced defeat in their last outing, Wilson and the New Saints will look to fire back after their surprise defeat.

Previous Meetings

The Town are without victory against the New Saints since August of 2019, with our only win in 5 years coming in a 3-1 victory at Maes Tegid with goals courtesy of Chris Venables and Louis Robles. Our last meeting against the Saints ended in a 4-1 defeat at Park Hall, as Danny Redmond scored an early brace, before Paulo Mendes halved the deficit after half an hour, only for Jordan Williams and Declan McManus to score to conclude the victory for the home side.
