Match Preview: The New Saints vs Bala Town

The Lakesiders head out on the road for the first of three away trips to conclude our season, with a trip to Park Hall to take on the Champions; The New Saints.

The Town secured European Football once again in our 1-1 draw to Newtown last time out, with Kieran Smith's goal being cancelled out by Louis Robles' penalty just before the break, however it wasn't going to dampen the mood at Maes Tegid after securing European Qualification.

The Saints have been perfect throughout Phase Two of the JD Cymru Premier season, winning every game and on course to go a full league season unbeaten, with just three opponents remaining. The only downside for the Oswestry based side was defeat in the SPFL Trust Trophy Final against Airdrieonians, as the Scottish side came back to secure a 2-1 victory.

Danger Man

Brad Young - The 21 year old has lit up the JD Cymru Premier this season, reaching 22 league goals with three games to spare as he looks to collect the Golden Boot this season. Young's recent form has been an impressive one, scoring eight goals in his last six appearances in all competitions, with six of his goals being back-to-back hat-tricks against Caernarfon Town and Cardiff Met. The Forward has 26 goals to his name in all domestic competitions, and will be looking to add a few more to his tally by the end of the season with three league games and a JD Welsh Cup Final to contest.

Previous Meetings

This season's three meetings with the Saints have been relatively close ones, with a 2-0 and 1-0 defeat and a 0-0 draw throughout this JD Cymru Premier season. However, the last time the Town were victorious in this fixture was back in August 2019, when second half goals from Louis Robles and a brace from Chris Venables would secure the three points in a 3-1 win. The most recent meeting at tonight's venue was a 2-0 defeat for the Lakesiders, as Ben Clark and Ryan Brobbel scored with less than six minutes of the first half to go.
