It's back to competitive action for the Lakesiders today!

The Lakesiders head to the Essity Stadium today to face Flint Town in Round Two of the Nathaniel MG Cup.

Both clubs have been busy in the transfer market over the summer, with Flint making two huge additional signings just this week. However Colin Caton has also been busy, with the acquisitions of Brad Bauress, Danny Walker-Rice, Paul Rutherford, Callum Woods and most likely the biggest summer signing; Dave Edwards.

The Match

Flint Town United vs Bala Town

Nathaniel MG Cup

Essity Stadium, CH6 5PJ

Saturday 7th of August - Kick Off: 2:30pm

Insight into our opponents:

Form - Flint come into this game having played four pre-season friendlies, winning three and drawing one, with the most recent friendly being a 4-0 away win against Widnes. They also managed a 3-1 home win against Marine FC back in mid-July.

Ones To Watch - Michael Wilde: There's no doubt that new signing Michael Wilde is a One To Watch for Flint today if he makes an appearance. Even at the age of 37, he was still named 'Player Of The Season' with Connah's Quay Nomads last season, and helped the Nomads on their way to the league title while also joining the Cymru Premier 200 goals club. He will definitely be a threat if he features today!

Ones To Watch - Mark Cadwallader: Having been the club's top goalscorer for the previous three season, Mark Cadwallader will definitely be a One To Watch today if he features. Last season he made 9 goal contributions in 26 appearances for Flint, and will definitely pose a threat today.

Summer signings - As previously said, Flint have had a busy transfer window, with a few quality acquisitions. Michael Parker was the club's first summer signing, joining from Caernarfon Town; re-uniting with former manager Neil Gibson, who he played under at Prestatyn Town.

Another two signings came from Caernarfon Town, as Telor Williams and Jack Kenny signed for The Silkmen.

Next up was Jake Phillips who signed from Newtown, who also joins his former manager, after their time together at Connah's Quay Nomads.

The Silkmen's marquee signing came just this week, as Michael Wilde made the short trip over from Connah's Quay Nomads after the expiry of his contract, and as previously said, at the age of 37, he will still pose a big threat for the Silkmen!

Also joining Wilde, was 38 year old Danny Harrison who also left Connah's Quay Nomads this week and will surely have plenty left to give for Flint Town.
