It's back to domestic Football for the Lakesiders, as we kick off our Nathaniel MG Cup campaign with an away trip to Cymru North side Chirk AAA.
In last season's edition of the Nathaniel MG Cup, the Lakesiders were knocked out at the Semi-Final stage by eventual winners; Connah's Quay Nomads as we fell to a 4-1 home defeat. This season we will look to go one better, and challenge for some silverware!
Chirk AAA vs Bala Town
Nathaniel MG Cup Second Round
Holyhead Road, Chirk, Ll14 5NA
Sunday, August 7th, 2:30pm kick-off.
Insight Into Our Opponents
Chirk AAA are one of the oldest clubs in Welsh football history, having been founded in 1876. They are founding members of the Football Association of Wales, and to this day remain as full members.
The Club became winners of the inaugural Lockstock Ardal North East League, having only been defeated on four occasions, and scored 104 goals on their way to claiming their place in this season's Cymru North.
This will be the first time Chirk have competed in the Nathaniel MG Cup, and made the second round after a 1-0 win over Conwy Borough in the first round.
Their danger man today will be Dale Davies should he feature, as he helped Chirk on their way to the league title last season with 19 goals in 22 appearances. It will definitely be a tough test for the newly promoted side, but we're sure they'll make it a difficult for the Lakesiders.
