Match Preview: Barry Town vs Bala Town

After just shy of four months away from league action, the JD Cymru Premier returns for the Lakesiders this afternoon with a trip to Jenner Park to face Barry Town.

The Town enter the opening weekend following a 1-0 win over Ruthin Town in the Nathaniel MG Cup, courtesy of Academy Graduate Tom Hughes' first senior goal for the Lakesiders.

Meanwhile, the hosts entertained Llanelli Town in their Nathaniel MG Cup Second Round tie last weekend, and would scrape through after a penalty shootout win.

Danger Man

Ollie Hulbert - The 22 year old enjoyed a fine season with Barry last season, having recorded 11 goals in 30 league appearances. Hulbert will be known to the Town defence, having managed to put two goals past the Lakesiders in last season's trip to Jenner Park within the first 45 minutes. The Englishman will be looking to hit the ground running to stake his claim in the Barry squad this season, having seen many new additions made to the side from Jenner Park.

Previous Meetings

The last meeting between the two sides saw the Lakesiders suffer a 3-1 defeat at Jenner Park, as a Ollie Hulbert double in the first half set the home side on for a victory on home soil. In last season's reverse fixture at Maes Tegid, it would be a 92nd minute winner from Iwan Roberts which would seal the three points for the Town. In the last 10 meetings between the two sides the Lakesiders have come out on top on four occasions, with Barry recording two wins with four draws making up the ten last meetings.
