Match Preview: Bala Town vs Newtown
For the first time since December 3rd 2021, the Lakesiders are back at Maes Tegid! Newtown are the visitors for the second time this season, after both sides played out a Nathaniel MG Cup Fourth Round tie at Maes Tegid in October last year, where the Lakesiders swept aside the Robins with a 3-1 win to progress to the Semi-Final.
With Phase 1 coming to a close very soon, the top six could not be closer with only The New Saints having confirmed their top six finish. Tonight's game could either cement Newtown's place in the top six, or it could throw everything wide open with a Bala win. It could not get any bigger!

Danger Man
Aaron Williams - It's been a great season for Williams so far, having had 15 goal contributions in 17 league appearances for the Robins, not forgetting his nine goals in five domestic cup competitions! The Robins' talisman is currently chasing Declan McManus at the top of the goalscoring charts, with the TNS man currently on 18, while Williams is on 13 with the Flint duo of Jack Kenny and Michael Wilde hot on his heels. Williams has returned to Cymru Premier action following the recent break with a goal against Haverfordwest County, as he converted a 76th minute penalty to snatch a point against the South Wales side. He will be hoping to make the same impact he has all season here at Maes Tegid tonight!
Previous Meeting
Our previous meeting with the Robins was back in November, as we travelled over to Latham Park on a cold Tuesday night to witness an absolute goal fest of a second half! The score at half-time was a dull and boring one at 0-0, but the second half definitely warmed the crowd up, as we saw SIX second half goals. Nathan Peate put the Lakesiders ahead just five minutes into the second half, only for Jordan Evans to cancel it out with a goal two minutes later. Lassana Mendes then replied just four minutes later with a cross-like shot to put us back in the lead. It took Newtown almost twenty minutes to reply, as Nick Rushton drew his side level to make it 2-2, until Jordan Evans grabbed his second of the match on 80 minutes. It looked like the Town were down and out, but in came Nathan Peate again to strike a header into the Robins net to draw us level at 3-3, and that's how it would end!
