Match Preview: Bala Town vs Flint Town

The JD Welsh Cup is back this weekend, as the Lakesiders look to progress into the fourth round of the competition, with fellow Cymru Premier opposition in Flint Town standing in our way. The Town come into the match on the back of a superb 3-0 victory in the Cymru Premier against Aberystwyth Town last Friday evening.

Meanwhile, the visitors enter today's game on the back of a 1-0 defeat at home to Haverfordwest County, after being reduced to 10 men just after the hour mark at the Essity Stadium. The Silkmen only just scraped past Caersws in the previous round of this competition, as they narrowly beat the mid-Wales side by a goal-to-nil.

Danger Man

Okera Simmonds: The Silkmen's summer signing has been the bright spark for them so far this season, with four league goals in nine appearances, and currently leads the way in terms of goals for the Flintshire side. The 22 year old who spent time at Liverpool's academy as a youngster looks to be Flint's main man this season having joined from Chester City in the summer. The youngster will be the one-to-watch should he feature today, with his quick feet, good agility and an eye for goal should he get a chance.

Previous Meetings

The Lakesiders have only dropped two points in the previous seven league meetings with the Silkmen, with our most recent meeting ending in a 1-1 draw at the Essity Stadium. However, in cup competition, the Flintshire side have the upper hand on the Lakesiders, having knocked the Town out of the JD Welsh Cup in 2019 after Lassana Mendes was sent off for a rather reckless challenge, as Flint ran out 2-0 winners on the day.
