History

Founded in 1943 as part of the Brymbo Steelworks Complex, Brymbo was originally founded under the name Brymbo Steelworks. They are based in Tanyfron, Wrexham and play their home games at ‘The Crick’ in their home colours of amber and black. The club’s nickname is the ‘The Steelmen’ and they have won the Welsh National League on a total of 14 occasions with numerous cup successes including winning the Welsh Amateur Cup in 1967.

The club has also had two mergers in its time of existence, the first coming with New Broughton in 1996 to see the club become Brymbo Broughton and the second in 2005 with Summerhill United seeing the club renamed to Summerhill Brymbo. The merger to become Summerhill Brymbo was quickly reverted back following one season seeing them become Brymbo once more.

The Gaffer

Ricky Evans is the manager at Brymbo having been appointed in June of this year. The 43-year-old has a wealth of experience as a player having played in the top flight of Welsh football for the likes of TNS, Bangor City and Connah’s Quay Nomads. As well as having played for the Lakesiders himself during our first season in the Cymru Premier where he was our top goalscorer with 11 goals during the 2008/2009 season.

Despite his new role as a first-team manager, the Cymru Premier legend continues to lace his boots on occasions for his new club having appeared in four league appearances for the Steelmen this season, scoring three goals!
