Match Preview: Bala Town vs Briton Ferry Llansawel AFC

The Lakesiders return to cup action this weekend, as the Quarter Finals of the JD Welsh Cup take place, as the competition narrows down to the final four teams after this weekend. We welcome Briton Ferry Llansawel of the Cymru South to Maes Tegid this afternoon, as both teams look to book their place in the last four of the competition.

The Town enter today's Quarter Final match having recently secured the Nathaniel MG Cup trophy with a penalty shootout win over Connah's Quay Nomads, however were comfortably beaten in mid-week by The New Saints in the Cymru Premier.

Despite coming into today's game on the back of a 3-2 defeat to Cambrian & Clydach Vale BGC, The Ferry are flying high in the Cymru South, as they currently sit in 2nd place and are the highest scorers in the league with 56 goals so far this season.

Danger Man

Luke Bowen: The 34 year old is on fire in the Cymru South this season! Having scored 20 goals in 16 league appearances for the Ferry this season, making him just one short of Kayne McLaggon who holds on to top spot in the goal scoring charts in the Cymru South this season. Bowen is on a great run of form, having scored 11 goals in his last six appearances, which includes two hat-tricks against Camarthen Town and Abergavenny Town. The veteran Forward also has three goals to his name in this season's JD Welsh Cup, and will surely look to add to his tally should he get the chance this afternoon.

The Ferry's Road To The Quarter Finals

Today's opponents had a comfortable start to this season's JD Welsh Cup, entering the competition at the Second Round. They would ease passed Croesyceiliog AFC with a 5-0 victory, as Luke Bowen grabbed a hat-trick and both Thomas Walters & Tyler Brock netted one each, securing their place in the Third Round.

Again, it would be a comfortable tie for the Ferry in the Third Round, as they made the trip up to Mold Alexandra who compete in the Ardal North West League. The Ferry would put four past Mold without reply, as both Thomas Walters & Tyler Brock got on the scoresheet once again to secure their place in Round Four.

The Ferry's Fourth Round tie would prove to be a lot more tricky, as Buckley Town made the trip to down South. Despite Buckley equalising in the 87th minute to take the game to penalties, the Ferry would come out on top with a 8-7 win on penalties, after Buckley missed their final two penalties to allow Briton Ferry Llansawel a chance at securing their place in the Quarter Finals.
