Match Preview: Bala Town vs Airbus UK

Three long weeks later and the Lakesiders are back in action for the first time since hosting Flint Town at Maes Tegid at the start of December! After two fixture postponements against Pontypridd United and Connah's Quay Nomads due to frozen pitches, the Town return with Airbus UK as the visitors to Maes Tegid on the Eve of Christmas Eve.

The Town come into the match on the back of a hard fought victory at the start of December against Flint Town at Maes Tegid, as a controversial red card to Nathan Peate saw Bala play over an hour of the match with just 10 men. However, George Newell was able to head home a cross in the 82nd minute to snatch the three points. On the other hand, Airbus are yet to climb from the minus into the positive, as they remain on -2 points. However, there has been improvements for the Wingmakers following the appointment of Jamie Reed as manager, with their last three league results ending in narrow 2-1 defeats.

Danger Man

Adam Davies – Having suffered a horrific leg injury at the tail end of last season, Davies has returned to the Airbus squad in recent weeks, and will be looking to return to the form he found last season which won him the Cymru North Golden Boot; helping Airbus to promotion. Despite not completing a full 90 minutes yet this season, you cannot write the 26 year old off to make an impact on Airbus ‘ season. He started his first Cymru Premier match against Connah’s Quay Nomads, where the Wingmakers put on a much better performance, where they were defeated 2-1 at the Hollingsworth Group Stadium. There’s no doubt Davies will play his part in this evening’s match should he be fit to play, and he will most definitely be one to watch.

Previous Meetings

In the most recent meeting with Airbus UK, the Lakesiders hit the Wingmakers for six at the Hollingsworth Group Stadium, as the Town rushed into a four goal lead by the break. George Newell would seal his hat-trick with just a few minutes remaining, as the game ended in a 6-0 win for the Town back in September. The Lakesiders have also won their last three meetings with the Wingmakers, with the last three meetings coming in 2019 and 2016.
