Bala Town are pleased to announce that our captain, Chris Venables, will be extending his tenure until June 2023.
The 36-year-old signed from Aberystwyth in 2016 and has continued to defy belief as he's recorded all kinds of records and honours. Playing as a forward, Venables has punished defences over the years having played in the Cymru Premier his entire career.
The Captain has netted 210 Welsh Premier League goals, achieving the landmark 200th goal in a 4-1 win over Barry Town in May of last year, netting a hat-trick in the process.
Venables has come up trumps on most occasions for Colin Caton. Most recently, our captain's acrobatic heroics broke the deadlock against Newtown to all but seal European qualification in a moment of magic.
The forward has also played his part in history having assisted the goal that won us our first domestic trophy when he crossed in the clincher in the 2017 Welsh Cup final against TNS.
He's also proven himself in Europe having scored the winner in our historic victory out in Malta when the Lakesides edged past Valletta thanks to Venables' well taken penalty to secure progression in Europe for the first time in our history.
We will be hoping Venables can lead the team to even more history in little over a month's time when the Lakesiders prepare for the Europa Conference League first qualifying round.
Croeso nôl Venners!
