Lakesiders Move Up To Fourth!

The Lakesiders travelled to Latham Park on Tuesday evening (27th of September) looking for back-to-back wins for the first time this season, as we took on Newtown.

It was a relatively comfortable performance for the Town who saw Antony Kay grab the lead with a header at the back post, and The Captain Chris Venables capitalising on a mistake from the Newtown keeper to net his second goal of the campaign earning all three points in the process.

Kay Heads Home

Following an opening 30 minutes which saw both teams create chances to score, it was Antony Kay who struck home on 35 minutes! Lassana Mendes swung a corner in from the left hand side, with both Nathan Peate and Antony Kay lurking at the back post, but it was the latter who met the ball and headed the ball past Dave Jones to take the lead, grabbing his first goal of the season.

The Captain Capatalises!

After the opening goal, the Town looked comfortable with the ball and looked to create another goal to solidify our advantage. However, the Newtown keeper gifted Chris Venables with a simple tap in for our second, as a mistake from Dave Jones who passed the ball into the feet of Venables who made no mistake and swept the ball into an empty net, with Jones scrambling across in attempt to rectify his mistake.

Town See Out The Three Points

The Town went hunting for a third goal with over half an hour to go of the match, with Ollie Shannon and James Davies coming on as substitutes in an attempt to match the reverse fixture just a month ago. The Robins also tried to create chances to get back into the match, however the Bala defence shut up shop and saw the game out comfortably as we looked to have sealed our first back-to-back wins of the season.

Our concentration now goes onto Friday, as the Lakesiders head to the Hollingsworth Group Stadium to take on Airbus UK with kick off at 7:45pm, along with live coverage from Sgorio!
