Back to Maes Tegid this afternoon after a very challenging away fixture to League Champions TNS last Saturday evening. We approached that fixture with a good deal of confidence after a fine 2.0 Home win against Haverfordwest but an injury list and player absence made the task significantly more difficult. Despite the difficulties we battled well but were undone by a 5 minute lapse just before half time which saw us concede the 2 goals. The second half performance will give us some confidence back for another tough assignment today as we welcome Pontypridd United to Maes Tegid. We were held to a goalless draw down in South Wales and will need to be at our very best if we are to secure the priceless 3 points on offer this afternoon.
Our next home fixture is now not until Nov 28th when we welcome Caernarfon to Bala on a Tuesday evening. During this evening fixture our Academy will be making their Player of the Month awards at a half time Presentation and I hope as many as possible of our Academy players and parents would join us to support all the hard work the Academy do through these most challenging times for them. We have really been dealt a poor hand this season with the new Academy Classification and the change of leadership. Dan McNeil is doing a great job in attempting to restructure the set up whilst facing the complete loss of financial support from the FAW. It is a difficult and daunting task but the Club are firmly behind the efforts of all associated with the Academy and I hope as many as possible of our supporters can be there during the Caernarfon game to show their individual support for our youngsters.
We have 2 back to back away fixtures to follow this Saturday both in Aberystwyth. Our Welsh Cup tie kicks off next Saturday 11th November with a 2.30 pm kick off and the JD Cymru Premier League match follows the Friday after with an 8 pm kick off time. Your support would be hugely appreciated for both these important matches.
It seems a long way away but Christmas will be on us before we can turn round and the Club are planning a Christmas get together after our home match v Cardiff Met on Saturday December 16th in the Plas Coch. Please come and join us!! Everyone is most welcome. Thanks again to all for your attendance today at Maes Tegid.
Diolch. Nigel.
