Chief Exec Programme Notes v Caernarfon 28/11/23

A warm welcome back to Maes Tegid after a break of over 3 weeks since our last home match against Pontypridd. During this time we have had 2 trips to the seaside to play against Aberystwyth in 2 competitions. Despite both matches being really competitive affairs we returned with 2 excellent victories. The first visit resulted in us reaching the last 16 of the Welsh Cup with a close 1.0 win and this result has now seen us drawn against Cardiff based Caerau Ely in the next round. A week later we played Aberystwyth in the JD Cymru Prem and returned with a well deserved but extremely fortunate 3.2 victory. 10 man Aberystwyth equalised in the 90th minute only to see us grab a winner in the 96th minute. They were however extremely valuable points and results have enabled us to move into 5th spot in the League. And guess who is just behind us in 6th place – yes, our visitors this evening! Welcome to all from Caernarfon who have travelled this evening to witness what promises to be a hugely competitive fixture against a side who are performing really well this season. We managed to secure a draw when we visited the Oval earlier in the season and that game emphasised how close this fixture promises to be tonight. It will be tough, uncompromising and hopefully will provide real entertainment for the supporters this evening. We will have to be at our very best to secure the hugely valuable 3 points which are so needed if we are to secure a top 6 position when Phase 1 is completed.

Our Academy will be holding their Player Awards this evening during half time. Both October and November Player of the Month awards will be presented for all age groups and I hope that as many as possible of our academy players and parents can be present to support the efforts of Dan McNeil and his excellent team during some difficult times for the Academy structure and financing. Please support our youngsters!!

After tonight we travel to Penybont on Saturday with a 5.15pm kick off and follow this with another trip to South Wales for our last 16 Welsh Cup match on December 9th with a 2.30pm kick off. We complete our pre Christmas programme with a Home match against Cardiff Met on Saturday December 16th again with a 2.30pm kick off. We will be having A Christmas get together after this game in the Plas Coch. Please come and join us all together. We are delighted that AN Richards Ltd, Froncysyllte, Llangollen will be our Match Day Sponsors for this match. This excellent Company are huge supporters every season of the Club and we are indebted to them for this continued support.

A busy evening ahead and an exciting prospect for us all to enjoy. Welcome again to Maes Tegid.

Diolch, Nigel.
