Chief Exec Programme notes Llansawel/Briton Ferry 16/08/24

A very warm welcome back to Maes Tegid for our first JD Cymru Premier League fixture since April 5th. It seems such a long time ago but I can assure you that there has been no rest for all involved with the Club during that time. The hugely successful Bragdy Cup took up 3 weeks of our time in June. We then went straight into pre European friendlies including opening the new Clubhouse and Changing rooms at Pwllheli FC and a long trip to play Larne FC in Northern Ireland. The UEFA Conference League draw saw us paired with Paide Linameeskond from Estonia which made travelling logistics a significant challenge. The heartbreak we all felt after the very last second winner after extra time in Estonia was considerable. We played so well over the 2 leg tie and fully deserved to reach a penalty shoot out to decide the outcome. We were cruelly robbed of this opportunity by a wonder strike with the very last kick of the match. Such is the vagaries and uncertainties of football at this very high level. Immediately after this disappointment we had to dust ourselves down and go straight into pre season friendlies followed by a Nathaniel MG Cup tie away in Ruthin. Absolutely non stop circumstances throughout the year and we then make the long trip to South Wales for our first JD Cymru Premier League match away at Barry Town last Saturday. Injuries have already begun to take their toll with 4 players being ruled out of the first game of the campaign. We returned with a highly commendable point after an extremely fierce challenge from the Home side. The commitment from all the team was superb.

We now turn our attention to our fixture tonight against League newcomers Llansawel Briton Ferry. We warmly welcome all from South Wales to Bala and hope you enjoy our glorious surroundings and our hospitality. This game marks the start of an amazing run of 7 Home matches in only 6 weeks. The football calendar has turned up a strange run of matches but we must try to take advantage of this home advantage to set us in a strong position to challenge for honours this season again.

We welcome Flint Town to Maes Tegid next Friday 23rd Aug, Penybont on Saturday 31st Aug, Cardiff Met on Saturday Sept 7th, Aberystwyth on Friday Sept 13th, Holywell Town in the League Cup on Tuesday 17th Sept and Newtown on Friday Sept 20th.

We are embarking on a serious programme to have all our players individually sponsored for the season. We hope as many of you as possible will take up the opportunity to sponsor a player for the season, have your name posted against all media promotions, goals, assists etc and be the owner of his playing shirt when the season is completed. Please contact me if you are interested in this sponsorship which will greatly help the Club.

We are also awaiting for any Match Day sponsor opportunities which you may wish to take advantage of. Sponsorship is our lifeblood and hugely important to the success of our Club.

I hope to see you all at Maes Tegid over this busy period. Diolch pawb.

Nigel.
