Chief Exec Progamme Notes v Connahs Quay - 31/03/2023

A very warm welcome back to Maes Tegid for tonight’s crucial JD Cymru Premier League against our old rivals Connahs Quay. This is the 6th time we have played each other this season which in itself is somewhat disconcerting but on every occasion it has been a fiercely fought encounter and I expect no difference at all this evening as every point is crucial to the aspirations of both Clubs in their quest for European qualification. It certainly is the business end of the season and every match is so important for our Club.

We were once again extremely disappointed to have conceded another late goal which robbed us of a 3 point haul down at Penybont after producing an excellent performance with a severely depleted squad – 5 senior players were missing from the match and it certainly promotes the depth of our squad to put on such a determined effort and then to be only defied the 3 points by a seriously deflected free kick at the very end. The concession of late goals has certainly been our Achilles Heel and we can only hope to put that right in tonight’s match.

How exciting however can an end of season be for us all at Maes Tegid! 4 League games to play with each one defining our chances of Europa League qualification and then an historic Welsh Cup final on April 30th. We are so fortunate to be able to say that we are all a significant part of the history of the Club and so proud of our achievements. We return here again next week on Good Friday for another hugely important match against Newtown which precedes our Annual Presentation evening in the Plas Coch which will take place after the game. It is an informal event and I hope as many as possible can join us to celebrate the brilliant season and the expectation of even more success to come!

Sponsorship of the Club is our lifeblood and we are delighted to once again welcome A.N. RICHARDS LTD to Maes Tegid this evening as our Match Sponsors. This brilliant Company have been sponsoring the Club for many many years and we are so pleased that our relationship with them continues to be as strong as ever. We are indebted to them for their generosity and support!! Diolch yn Fawr.

Please please save the date – April 30th – Nantporth, Bangor – WELSH CUP FINAL – Your support on that day will be crucial to our chances of lifting this most prestigious of trophies for the second time – Please support your Club on the biggest day of the year for Welsh domestic football!

Thanks to everyone as always for attending tonight. DIOLCH!!

Nigel.
